Meetings

Met once a year with a Spring Tea
Starting in 1977, began luncheon meetings in May and October, a tea in March, and a summer picnic

Meetings with Superintendent

First meeting was July 29, 1976 with Superintendent Gordon Anderson to discuss strengths and weaknesses of local school system - Coffee Klatches continued each year on the first Tuesday in December

Newsletter

Appeared first in 1974 and was sent in December with a Christmas card
1976 - a suggestion box was provided to name the newsletter and Lavinia Hood had the idea of creating a logo of a tire with the Frederick spires on the inside and the words Frederick County above the tire and on opposite sides of the tire RE ED and underneath Teachers News

Newsletter published five times a year is distributed through email and US Mail

The history of the Frederick County Retired Teachers Association is indeed a story of growth - growth in membership, growth in participation in the life of the organization, growth in cooperation with the state and national associations of retired teachers, growth in the number of people attending the annual state convention, and growth in the number of members who render service in the communities - to schools, hospitals, churches, and charitable organizations.
