a. Catoctin Mountain Park has openings for Visitor Center volunteers to assist in greeting and orienting visitors. Please contact volunteer coordinator Rich Condon at 301-663-9399 or richard_condon@nps.gov

  1. b. The National Capital Trolley Museum in Colesville, MD is looking for a retired teacher who would like to work with elementary students on field trips to the museum. The opportunity is part time, when trips are scheduled. There is the possibility of expanding the program to higher grades and developing a more STEM-oriented curriculum, and a once-a-month special activity that the educator can design. This might be perfect for the retired teacher who misses the classroom, but not the fulltime dedication. Please contact Marsha Kaiser at marshakaiser04040@gmail.com, phone number 410-422-2742.

Often, when children and teens find themselves suddenly moving to a new place to live because of family upheaval, everything has to be transported in large trash bags. These young people sometimes get the feeling that "my stuff is trash and I'm trash." If you find any gently used, CLEAN luggage, duffel bags, backpacks, or totes in your spring cleaning (or any time of the year), please consider donating them to SHIP of Frederick County, 203 Broadway St. Suite 210, Frederick, MD 21701. If you bring them to the May 2024 luncheon the Community Service Committee will take them to SHIP for you. Having a real suitcase or travel bag could make a huge difference to someone.
