SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND

The Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association (FCRSPA) has entered into an agreement with The Community Foundation of Frederick County, MD, Inc. to create a donor-advised endowment fund of the Foundation which is called the Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association Scholarship Endowment Fund. The Fund meets the criteria for charitable giving, and all donations to the Fund are tax deductible.

The purpose of the Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association Scholarship Endowment Fund is to award scholarships to deserving individuals who demonstrate a financial need and who are pursuing a college degree in education with a career goal of obtaining certification as a public school teacher. A portion of the annual investment return from the Fund will be used to award scholarships based on the recommendations of the FCRSPA Scholarship Committee and the concurrence of The Community Foundation of Frederick County, Inc.

The Fund was established in June, 1998 with contributions from the Frederick County Retired School Personnel Association and has been supplemented with additional gifts since that time. In 2006 the Fund was expanded to include the Dr. Richard and Patricia Petre Fund. Gifts to the Fund are held in perpetuity, never to be spent. A portion of the annual investment return may be used to support the purpose of the Fund and the remainder reinvested, ensuring that subsequent years’ returns are always invested on an increasing base.

To make a donation to the FCRSPA Scholarship Endowment Fund or the Dr. Richard and Patricia Petre Fund:

• Prepare a check payable to “The Community Foundation of Frederick County, MD, Inc.” Please designate “FCRSPA Scholarship Endowment Fund” or “FCRSPA Dr. Richard and Patricia Petre Fund” in the memo part of the check.
• Your donation may be made “in memory or in honor of” a friend or loved one.
• Please provide the name, address, and telephone number of both the donor and the honoree (for family) to allow for acknowledgment and record keeping.
